  • Frequency: Setup: Sun-Fri; analytic time 1 day
  • Instructions: 3mL urine from random collection. Add 5% NaOH to increase pH or 1m HCL todecrease pH to keep between 6-8. Frozen.
  • Text: Patient should empty bladder. Have a patient drink at least 0.5 liters of water. Within 1 hour, collect a random urine specimen. Transfer 3 mls to plastic 10-ml urine tube and Freeze. Increased urine levels are seen in proximal tubular renal damage due to a variety of causes, including cadmium, mercury, lithium,or aminoglycoside toxicity; pyelonephritis; and Balkan nephropathy, a chronic interstitial nephritis of unknown etiology.
