Text: Used to study the causes of high levels of prolactin in the blood. The main role of Prolactin is to trigger & maintain the production of breast milk. Testing may be useful when investigating infertility. Apart from pregnancy & nursing, the most frequent cause of high prolactin levels in the blood is an adenoma (benign tumor) of the pituitary gland.
