Text: The HBe antigen assay, along with other serological & clinical information, can be used for the determination & management of chronic hepatitis B infection. Not to be used for the diagnosis of acute Hepatitis B infection. HBe antigen becomes detectable shortly after HBsAg is detectable and is an indicator of active infection and replicating virus.
