DATE: August 31, 2005
TIME: 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
PLACE: AMS Laboratory - Conference Room
2916 E. Central, Wichita, Kansas
SPEAKER: Mike Cooke, Medical Technologist. AMS Laboratory

Auto-immunity is the unusual condition in which the body produces antibodies against its own cells, muscles tissues or organs. Examples of auto-immune diseases are systemic rheumatic diseases, SLE (Lupus), Mixed Connective Tissue Disease, Sjogrens, Scleroderma and Crest. Mike Cooke will review the clinical significance of common ANA results and provide some guidelines for testing. He will talk about the classic method, utilizing titers, versus the new technologies. Frequently asked questions about ANA testing will be addressed.

A previous educational session was sponsored by a vendor, and was very well received by the attendees. We prepared
this session at the request of our clients who would like to understand more about auto-immunity. This program will be
from the perspective of a technologist
who actually works with the ANA technology.

Certificates of attendance will be handed out at the close of the program.

Light refreshments will be provided, courtesy of AMS. Feel free to bring your lunch and eat during the presentation.
